Impressive American Folk Art Cane probably carved by Western cowboy in bunkhouse, circa late 19th century to early 20th century. The grip portion is a cow horn with a carved tip surrounded by brass tacks. The shaft istwist carved and painted with a horn tip which is also accented by brass tacks. The shaft of the cane is light and strong and is possibly cottonwood. The body of the cane shows red, green and black paint which ispatinated with some cracking and normal aging. The top of the cane shows metal rings for hanging on hook. The cane measures approx 37" from tip to tip, the grip portion of the horn approx. 6". This cane shows thestyle of the Southwest from Texas to California. Est.; $750-$1,500.
