IMPRESSIVE COLLECTION OF 150 AMERICAN INDIAN
ARROWS. Ranging in length from about 25" to 32", sinew and thread sewn iron or stone heads, some just sharpened. One is shown on page 40 of John Baldwin's 1999 text "BOWS ARROWS & QUIVERS": "Collected from bundle of 9 Cheyenne medicine arrows", another group of 3 (missing one iron head and feathers on all 3) page 2: "Collected in Kansas before 1900 as Kiowa". The other large assortment of arrows are tied together in small groups made by the same hand. Some of these arrows seem to match some from large group pictured in Baldwin view of about 75 arrows on one page. Some of these are most likely more contemporary than others. Regardless, a wonderful assortment you will not find offered again. CONDITION: fair to very good, many are missing feathers or have partial feathers, a few cracked, damaged, bent, or missing heads. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18772/JS). $3,000-5,000.
