Howard The Duck Dr. Jenning (Jeffrey Jones) Maquette
Howard The Duck was the infamous "controversial" movie made by George Lucas after the staggering success of "Star Wars". Both in its tone, and rather edgy sexuality (based on the equally edgy Marvel comic character), the 27 year old film has become more than a cult classic, it has become a bit of its own industry! In a time when CGI was virtually non-existent, Howard, a high-testosterone humanoid duck pulled from his alien planet to help us stop an alien invader, was created by old-fashion costumes and masks, with both puppetry and actual actors (five of which are credited) to create him. Lucas' ILM Effects studio worked diligently especially in creating the face. This is one of the final prototype masks of Howards' duck-face by the ILM studios for the production. It is made of a hard molded plastic, and then hand airbrushed and painted. It is set on a specially designed soft latex mold and black wood post and stand for display. Along with the mask is a special maquette from the transformation of Dr. Walter Jenning (Jeffrey Jones) from scientist to monster. This was achieved mostly through the talents of special effects make up genius Thomas R. Burman and his famous studio. Since his transformation was not shot in sequence, it was imperative that special busts, known as maquettes, were created so that the make-up crew knew exactly how to construct Jones for each specific scene. There were approximately six stages of make-up changes. This amazingly detailed full size bust shows "Stage Two" The peeling of the skin on his forehead is part of the beginning of his transformation. The bust is made of plaster and human hair, and is painstakingly painted to show the actual coloration and nose, cheekbone and forehead appliances needed. A very rare set of "Howard The Duck" memorabilia! (Approx 18"x17"x10"). Because of the size and weight of this rare item, please allow extra shipping charges. (Mask is approx 8"x7"x8", display stands approx 12" high)
