This is a Howard Terpning framed print titled "Signals in the Wind". The print shows a group of Plains Native American Indians gazing in the distance at a smoke signal. From Terpning: "Plains Indians often used smoke signals to communicate across great distances. The smoke was not normally used in the complex manner of Morse code but usually has a specific meaning agreed upon beforehand between sender and receivers. The signal here could convey any number of things: sighting of a buffalo, for example, discovery of an enemy, or simply provide a rallying point for scattered parties.". The print has been signed by the artist in the lower right corner and is numbered 516/750. The print has been professionally matted and framed. The frame measures 30.25" x 38.75".
