Historic lot of misc. artifacts all legally excavated from private land during years of archeological work by noted Custer battle and Indian Wars-era expert, the late Dr. Sterling Fenn, contained in an oldmulti-drawer map case and small plastic compartmentalized case including items found at the sight of Custer’s fight with the Sioux on the Yellowstone on August 11, 1873, artifacts from the Fetterman massacre anditems recovered from the location of the Wagon Box fight. Many of the artifacts are contained in riker cases and have hand written notes by Dr. Fenn concerning the time and place of their recovery; also severaltyped summaries related to the above-noted battles. The artifacts include recovered bullets, spent cartridges, pieces of horse tack, soldier uniform parts, gun parts, etc. A lifetime collection put together by apreeminent historian, author and extraordinary collector.
