Historic Merwin & Hulbert Large Frame DA Model with top strap and fluted cylinder revolver, .44-40 cal., 7” barrel, nickel finish, pearl grips, #17889 with old double loop leather holster and documentation to Mexican bandit ManuelLozada, known as “El Tigre De Alica” who fought against General Don Ramon Corona at La Mojonera (State Boundary of Jalisco) which in 1875 was known as the Territory of Tepic, later to become the State of Nayarit. Lozada was defeated andlater died of his wounds at a point now known as San Luis De Lozada, Nayarit. The gun is in overall very good condition showing approx. 65% nickel finish with majority of loss on the left side of the barrel that also shows scattered erosion; good action, fair + bore, fine iridescent pearl grips with silver Mexican snake and eagle medallions added to the top of each grip; an old copper collection tag is attached to the trigger guard. Accompanying this lot is a folder of documentsincluding an April 1966 Gun Report that contains an article by A. Lavielle Lawbaugh who had this gun in his collection with the gun pictured on page 18 of that gun report; also an old collection tag with information on Loazda (matching the
