style showing silver hilt with Roman Legion helmeted soldier at the pommel. Measures 25 ½” overall with a 20” blade showing blue and gilt. Maker’s name “A.E. (Last letter not visible) Uller, Soligen”. The quillons show one lion and one broken and missing. The guard shows goddess placing ring on soldiers head holding sword surrounded by stand of arms. Note: chain and part of quillon or guard broken but otherwise good with 75% plus gilt on the blade, considerable blue and some pitting. A very unusual short sword of 1830s militia style that could have been American imported. Est.: $500-$1000
