High quality percussion dueling/target pistol by Klawitter, Herzberg, with internal lock mechanism, percussion ignition, half stocked with octagon barrel of approx. .45 caliber with micro groove rifled bore, 3 wide goldbands at breech, gold inlaid “1” on tang, showing British proof mark on barrel. Beautifully engraved triggerguard mounts and buttcap which is numbered “Gun 1165”. The barrel shows considerable original brown with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The pistol is fitted with a set trigger and shows nicely checkered wood stock with German silver escutcheons. The stock is in good to very good condition andthe original ramrod is retained. The rear sight is key adjustable and there is a maker’s cartouche inlaid at the breech. Also a platinum blow-out plug in the bolster and the pistol is fitted with a nipple safety. An extremely fine pistol made by the personal maker to the King of Hanover. Est: $1,250 - $2,500
