High quality hand-made percussion plains rifle in classic 19th century American style marked “R” Sverdrup Was. Territory, with W. M. Large marking, who is known for his rifling. The rifle is approx. .58 caliber, showing a 36” heavy octagon barrel, varnished select fiddleback stock with high varnish and brass mounts, pewter forend cap, brass patchbox. Beautifully engraved inlay in cheekpiece showing American shield and arrows. The rifle is numbered “5” at the breech and also signed on the lock. The rifle shows a buckhorn rear sight and large blade front sight. 53” overall. The rifle is in very good to near fine condition with some slight storage rust, minor use, and some slight scratches to the stock, but very good plus to near fine overall.
