Henry Elwell Marked Percussion Rifle
The lock plate features a hunter's scene and is marked "HENRY ELWELL / WARRANTED". A gunsmith by the name Henry Elwell worked in Seneca County, Ohio, from 1810 to 1812 as a lockmaker (refer to page 94 of American Gunsmith by Frank Sellers). Fixed sights on a barrel script marked "G * F", brass furniture including the patch box, and double set triggers.

Condition: Fine, with the metal surfaces cleaned with some minor flash pitting. The brass is fine. The full length stock is very fine with some minor dings and scratches. Action needs work as the hammer does not hold at the full cock position.
