Heavy dragoon or cavalry style saber marked Horstmann & Sons & Drucker circa 1845 to 1849 of the type that may have been purchased for private use by dragoons or Calvary officers during the Mexican-American war. The blademeasures 35” and the sword is 40” overall and is in good condition showing some sharpening on the edge and light to moderate pitting and erosion. The hilt and scabbard show a dark patina and the wire wrapped over leather handle is good with some flakes and losses. The scabbard shows some large dents from carriage doors and an old hanging chain is attached. Very similar in design and style to the US Dragoon pattern sword. Est.:$600-$1,200
