Heavy barrel half-stock percussion Plains rifle by T. J. Albright, circa about 1850, .45 cal., double barrel keys, half-stocked iron scroll trigger guard, pewter forend cap, large buckhorn rear sight, blade front sight and classic St. Louis styling. The barrel is stamped with small letters "T J Albright St Louis" with large and bold stamp on front of lock "Albright" over St. Louis. The rifle measures 55-1/2" overall with 39-1/2" heavyoctagon barrel; measuring slightly over 1-1/8" across the flats of the muzzle, and gun weighs a hefty 15-1/2 pounds. The rifle remains in good to very good condition showing a good brown patina finish on barreland lock; some minor pitting and erosion but good edges and sharp markings. The stock is very good+ with a couple of small losses, minor nicks, scratches, normal carry and use, and at least very good overall. Anattractive and rarely encountered St. Louis gun by a well known competitor of Hawken. Provenance Norm Fladerman 1993. Est.: $5,000-$10,000
