Harrington & Richardson Model 999 Sportsman, #R517730, .22LR cal., 6” barrel, factory silver plated and inscribed “Governor Goodwin J. Knight” on the left side of the barrel, jeweled hammer, adjustable sights, checkered medallion walnutgrips. The revolver remains in fine to excellent condition overall, showing toning to the silver plating. The bore is excellent, action is crisp; grips show some flattening to the checkering but no chips or losses. The original box is retained,in good condition overall with some minor tattering and separation at several corners. This H&R Model 999 Sportsman was a presentation gift to governor Goodwin J. Knight by Harrington & Richardson at the National Governor’s Conventionin 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Each governor in attendance received an identical revolver with his name inscribed on the barrel. Governor Knight was the 31stGovernor of California from 1953-1959, and succeeded Earl Warren who later became theSupreme Court Justice, serving as Warren’s Lt. Governor from 1947-1953. This is a very important revolver, and a must have for the Harrington & Richardson collector as well as collectors of California history and presentation guns. This
