Harpers Ferry Model 1805 flintlock pistol, .54 caliber, 10-1/16” round barrel with iron rib below holding an iron ramrod ferrule, brass mountings, lockplate dated 1808, wood stock, #1833. This rare gun is in overallvery good condition showing a brown patina on metal surfaces with scattered spots of erosion on barrel and light pitting around firing area; sharp spread eagle over US on lockplate and sharp HARPERS FERRY 1808markings; dark bore; good to very good wood stock with very good inspector’s cartouche on left side above trigger, some minor old mars and scratches from carry and storage, an old repair to a chip of wood on the backside ofthe grip that was obviously done long ago. The 1805 was the first military handgun manufactured by a national armory; there were only 4,096 made and they were issued in pairs, therefore the highest serial numberwould be 2,048. Only 1,208 1808 dated specimens were made. A key gun for the U.S. martial collector and one that is extremely hard to find in any condition let alone in this quality. Est.: $11,000-$20,000.
