According to the included factory letters, this revolver was one of 25 shipped to Hartley & Graham of New York City on 1 April 1881. The letters confirm the caliber, and lists the finish as "Soft", indicating that the arm was intended for engraving. Fixed sights, with the one line Hartford address on top of the barrel etched oval "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" on the left, "44 CF" on the trigger guard and the three line, three date patent markings on the frame. Overall engraving pattern is zig-zags and punch dots, with additional scroll designs and floral work. Matching numbers on the frame and grip straps, and "3571" on the loading gate. Smooth one-piece ivory grips.

Condition: Good as partially restored (barrel and cylinder engraving recut), with a mixed bright gray patina overall, showing handling marks and scattered pitting. The restored etched panel is strong and well defined. Grips are good, with shrinkage, cracking and excellent coloration and grain. Mechanically very good.
