You are bidding on a Hampden Molly Stark pocket watch from circa 1907. The Hampden Watch Co. was started as the New York Watch Co. in 1866 by Donald J. Mozart in Providence, RI. In 1877, Mr. Mozart changed the name to the Hampden Watch Co.. In 1888, The company was bought by John C. Dueber, a manufacturer of watch cases since 1864. When Dueber bought the company, he moved it to Canton, OH. In Canton, Dueber opened dual factories--watch case and watch. Within two years the company was making 600 watches a day. The watch on which you are bidding features a lever set, 7 jewel, hunting movement in nickel finish. The movement is engraved "Molly Stark/ Canton, O/ U.S.A." The watch does work, but is missing the crystal and the front cover of the case. The gilded, engraved case says "Dueber Special" on the inside with an anchor logo. The movement cover reads "Dueber/ Warrantied 25 Years. The pocket watch is on a copper colored chain and pendant with six tiny seed pearls and a ruby colored stone (a second stone is missing). The watch face measures 1 3/4"; the watch is on a 26" chain (measured when doubled).
