H. W. Mortimer dueling/target pistol converted from flintlock to percussion with saw handle type grip (badly broken). The pistol measures approx. 16-1/4" overall with 10" medium weight octagon barrel of .52caliber smoothbore. The pistol shows a single-set trigger, spurred guard, standard steel mounts with a period belt hook. There is a gold inlay above the trigger on the left side of the stock that is neatly inlaid,probably by Mortimer, and shows a reposing lion with the initials J. A. D. The pistol shows an inlay on the back of the wrist for removable shoulder stock. The metal surfaces have been heavily cleaned and the lock showssome pitting. Shows H. W. Mortimer over 89 Fleet St. The break is fresh, the edges have not been rounded, the butt is very repairable. An early mortimer in need of restoration. Est: $600 - $1,200
