H. Blanchet Fils French Oak Wood Wine Pitcher
Featured in this lot is this French, oak wood barrel wine pitcher made by H. Blanchet Fils (Sons) company in Grenoble, France circa early 1900s. The barrel is constructed of oak with copper banding and rivets throughout the pitcher and surrounding the spout. The bentwood handle is covered in copper branding on the underside, leaving some wood finish on the top of the handle. It is signed on the bottom by the makers reading, "H. Blanchet Fils, Place de la Halle, Grenoble". It is a wonderful example of detailed French craftsmanship, and would make a fine addition to any antique kitchen display or wine cellar. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear from its age and use over the years, but no signs of obvious damage is present. The bottom copper band is slightly loose but still connected. The pitcher measures 8 1/4" in height, 5 5/8" in length and 5" in width. It weighs 14 ounces.
