Gwyn & Campbell .52 caliber percussion Civil War carbine, blue and case hardened finish, cartouche wood stocks, in fine to excellent condition, marked “The Union Rifle” serial #4077. The barrel retains approx. 96-99% original blue, some just slight toning, a few light scratches, and minimal aging. The frame shows 90-95% case hardening dulling slightly with a few marks from saddle-ring but still very bright and fiery. The block and tang show 75-85% thinning blue. The stocks are still fuzzy and show a few storage marks and scratches, razor sharp cartouche, and are near fine overall. The buttplate shows 30-50% toning blue. The action is tight, the bore is excellent. The barrel is numbered “3847” all other parts are “4077”. Basically an unused carbine with just slight storage and a strong 9.6 or 9.7 on a 1-10 scale.
