Cased, custom bolt action sporting rifle chambered in .243 Rockchucker, built utilizing a Mauser kurz action circa 1959. Configuration: Blued finish, 22 1/2" tapered barrel, ramped & hooded blade front sight with brass bead, right side receiver mounted Lyman sight base with blank inserted, Redfield 2-7x scope mounted with Griffin & Howe quick detach side mount system, Buehler scope clearance two-position safety, bright machine turned bolt with five panel teardrop knurling on the handle, internal box magazine with engine turned follower & hinged floorplate, Mauser short action with machine turning on the right side where the extractor slides across it, swivel studs and extra fancy Circassian walnut pistol grip shoulder stock with high gloss finish, ebony forend tip, hand cut multi-point checkering, engraved steel grip cap with gold inlayed mountain goat bust, gold oval escutcheon engraved with the monogram "M.T.L.", beaded right handed cheekpiece, knurled steel cartridge trap buttplate & 13 5/8" LOP. The barrel is marked "No 2294 GRIFFIN & HOWE INC NEW YORK". The receiver ring has been drilled & tapped as has the barrel with the placement disrupting a portion of the barrel address. The serial number 93927 is found full or in part on the receiver, triggerguard, floorplate, sear, trigger, bolt sleeve, cocking piece and bolt release. Includes a brown leather wrapped locking trunk case with partitioned interior lined in maroon felt. Case contains a nickel plated oiler bottle, a spent case and three-piece RCBS reloading dies. The gun case is stamped "Abercrombie & Fitch Co./ NEW YORK./ MADE IN ENGLAND." and is also custom marked by a previous owner "ARTHUR D. LEIDESDORF/ 125 PARK AVE. N.Y.C." & "G. & H. CAL 243 No. 2294". Rifle retains approximately 95% of it's original blued finish showing thinning and a couple light scratches. Action is very smooth, the bore is excellent, optics are clear with crosshair reticle, markings are crisp and the figured wood stock is very good with minor blemishes & 1/4" hairline crack at the top of the wrist.
