Good quality and ornate 19th century flintlock pistol with signed lock and ornate chiseling in high relief on the barrel, hammer and lock plate. The pistol shows brass mountings which are fancy and in military motifs with a slightly dulled gold colored finish. The stock shows accent and border carving. The pistol measures 15” overall with 8 ¾” two-stage barrel with cannon type turned ring at the muzzle. The breech end of the barrel is chiseled in high relief with figures of cannons,flags and some sort of mid-eastern crest. The hammer and lock plate are floral carved in high relief. The center portion of the lock shows a signature in what appears to be Arabic writing. The condition is fine to near excellent overalland the quality of the pistol is very good and several experts believe it to be Turkish in origin. Est.: $1400-$2800
