Dealing in diamonds, cutlery, general goods and arms from Henry Deringer and his domestic copyists, F.H. Clark & Company was active from 1841 to 1870. Dovetailed German silver blade front and notch rear sights, with the top flat of the barrel marked "MAND FOR / F.H. Clark &Co. / MEMPHIS. TENN." and the gold banded breech marked "DERINGER/ PHILADELA'' on the top and "P" flanked by zigzag lines on the upper left flat. The address is repeated on the lock plate, with an interesting sculpted bolster and engraving on the lock plate and hammer. Checkered bird's head grip stock with a brass tipped ramrod, engraved German silver tip and buttcap, engraved coin silver escutcheons, trigger guard, accent and reverse plates and an inscription shield on the wrist.

Condition: Very good, showing a nice gray patina on the barrel and a dark brown and gray on the hammer and lock, with traces of the original brown finish on the barrel, a chip in the hammer, a small crack in the right side of the tang and some mild pitting and handling marks overall. Stock is fine, with some filler added around the right escutcheon, light cracks and scattered pressure dents. Silver is very fine, with mild handling marks and nicely aged patina. Mechanically fine.
