Godzilla Vs. Mothra (1965) Prop Dial Crank Phone Prop
Godzilla Vs. Mothra (1965) Prop Dial Crank Phone Prop - After the devastation of WWII, Japan began to rebuild and reinvent itself, both in all industries, especially auto and motion pictures. One of their first successes in the film industry was "Godzilla" (1954), from their largest movie studio, Toho, directed by Ishiro Honda with special effects by Ejlji Tsuburaya. It was a not so subtle metaphor of the horrors of the aftermath of nuclear attacks. Two years later the film came to America, heavily edited, with new scenes added starring Raymond Burr. it was an instant sensation, and generated many sequels. The fourth in the series, and some believe the best, was "Godzilla vs. Mothra" (aka "The Thing") in 1964, in which greed takes over from radiation as the true villain. Director Honda and studio Toho really were on a roll, and the film had such international (if not American) appeal that it was the first in the series to be released virtually untouched and unedited from the original. Godzilla props from these films are highly prized and sought after, and are extremely rare. This is an unusual Japanese "crank" dial phone prop used in the production. Being that it was once a real operating Japanese phone, it's extremely heavy! Comes with the original cord and junction plug. (Phone is approx 5"x7"x9"). Because of its extreme weight extra shipping will be added.
