German Silver Cup Holders & Bottle Stoppers
For your consideration in this lot we offer three German silver cup holders and two silver and cork bottle stoppers. In 1884 a law was enacted in Germany making .800 the minimum standard for silver. In 1886 the use of individual city marks was abolished and replaced with the national mark of the crescent moon & crown, these marks were compulsory by 1888, after which they could be used with the makers mark. These three cup holders all bear the crescent moon & Crown 800 mark but no makers mark. The cup holders are all 2 1/" across. One is 1 1/2" deep, the other is 2" deep and the last is 2 1/4" deep. All three cup holders have handles and different detailed cut-out or filigree patterns. The first bottle stopper is a Stopper/ Pour spout with a cap and breath hole toggle. The cork is still in good condition tho the tube into the bottle has some damage, the breath hole toggle works. The item is 4 1/2" long and the cork id apx 1" across. The next stopper is silver on top with a pull ring and cork on bottom. The top is 2 1/4" across and the cork is 1 3/4" across and 3/4" thick. The cork is in good condition. These items together show excellent condition for their age.
