This is a nice example of a WWII German high turret sniper rifle that was manufactured by the Mauser factory and fitted with a Carl Zeiss commercial scope. The turret mount rifles were considered the most efficient design of the K98 rifles and they were in service from their introduction in 1939 to the end of the war. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, the left side has an "eagle 135" and Nazi firing proofs flanking the serial number, with the receiver side wall marked "Mod. 98". The left rear of the barrel is marked with a Nazi firing proof and the serial number, the right side below the rear sight is marked with two "eagle/135" proofs. The rifle has a milled trigger guard, barrel bands and floor plate. The matching bolt is a correct late war version with the milled safety. The rifle is fitted with an all blue sniper scope made by Carl Zeiss with a large rubber eye piece, the top of the tube marked with the Carl Zeiss logo/"Zielvier/No 64034" and elevation knob mounted in the center with graduations from 100 to 300. The rifle is equipped with a ramp front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters with the trigger marked "Mod 98" and mounted with a laminated stock and handguard with cupped buttplate. The right side of the buttstock is marked with an "eagle/WaA135" proof and the underside is marked with the matching serial number over "H" and two eagle proofs. Complete with a brown leather cross hatch sling.
