German Jaeger full length rifle circa mid to late 18th century with no makers name, but shows good quality. The rifle measures 47-1/4" overall with 32-3/4" medium weight octagon barrel of approx 60 caliber, 7 groove deep cut rifling. The metal surfaces have been lightly cleaned to a gray patina with some minor erosion and light rust and beginning pinprick pitting. The stock shows some light carving and a wood trigger guard. The stock shows some restoration to the forend and light refreshing. The carving in the butt stock is still fairly sharp. There are a couple of chips by the bottom of right edge of butt stock. The rear of the hammershows a slight beginning crack. The wire thick hair trigger is missing. In its original Flintlock configuration. The Kentucky rifle evolved from this style Jaegar and the barrel shows a nice swamp or flareto the muzzle. Est.;$ 1,500-$3,000.
