Featured in this lot is this G.I. Holt Saddlery wooden advertisement sign circa 1980's. The sign shows a wooden construction that use to have a white field and shows black lettering. After being back in the U.S. for some time, he decided to pursue leather work as a career, so he loaded up the family and headed to a saddle making school in California. After saddle school, he spent five years building saddles for J.M. Capriola Co., a legendary saddle and tack shop in Elko, Nev. The last year and half there, Holt was head saddle maker. In 1983, Holt returned to his hometown of Dillon, Mont., to set up his saddle shop and it has remained there ever since. Holt has become well noted for his tooling and his custom saddles have been used by cowboys and cowgirls all over the world. In 2007, he was honored as the Academy of Western Artists’ Saddle Maker of the Year, an award given only to the best of the best. The condition of this original wooden sign is is fair with fading to the lettering and to the white paint due to age and use and weathering but otherwise shows fair overall condition. The measurements of this sign is 9 3/8" x 46 1/2".
