This is an original G.C. (Gerry) Wentworth bronze sculpture titled "Anticipation". Gerry Wentworth was a Great Falls, Montana artist who grew up in the era just after Charles Russell's life. He was largely self taught and spent the majority of his life working in painting, sculpture and wood carving. Wentworth's works have been widely exhibited in such places as the C.M. Russell Show, the Phippen Art Show and the Frank Tenney Johnson Show. In 1981, he won Best of Show at the Northwest Americana Art Show. This sculpture shows a hunter readying his decoys for the hunt as his retriever patiently waits. The piece shows fine detail and excellent artistic talent. The bronze rests upon a solid walnut hardwood base with a brass placard that reads "Anticipation Gerry Wentworth". The sculpture bears the artist's signature with a date of "1980" and is numbered AC/24 (Artist Copy). The bronze is in very good condition. It measures 9" x 13.5" and is 7.5" tall. Comes with a printed biography of the artist and a Certificate of Authenticity. The original gallery retail price of this piece was $2,400.
