Full sidelock Belgian made double-barrel exhibition grade double barrel rifle in 600 Nitro caliber, finely custom European crafted for by Constantine for Katsenes & Co of Santa Barbara, CA, marked Grade 5 Deluxe. The gun shows 26-1/4” heavy round barrels with African type 1/3 rib with 3-leaf rear sight, engine turned and hand engraved at the ends. The action is finely engraved and shows a raised relief gold inlay at sideplate of cape buffalo. The bottom of frame shows a beautifully engraved charging bull elephant. The right lock shows rhino. The gun is numbered “0103” in gold on the tang. The rifle shows a hinged front trigger, selective ejectors, compartment in pistol grip cap, select straight grained walnut stock with checkered butt, bushed firing pins and top quality throughout, blued barrels, satin or French grey receiver with Monte Carlo cheekpiece. Phil Katsenes was the owner of London Guns and in his retirement imported high grade arms from Europe on a limited basis. This was one of two 600 Nitros he ordered from Europe and used this example, which was the fanciest, as his display gun. Originally retail priced by Katsenese at over $50,000 more than a decade ago.
