A classic full size horse used for saddlery company display. Fine dapple gray with iron shoes, glass eye on right side only. (We named him “Lefty”). This regal steed stands 88" tall on a 5" movable base. It is 90" long from the natural horse hair tail to the nose. The mane is horsehair and appears all original. The mouth is articulated to accept a bit and bridle. Some cracking and over-painting as expected. Circa late 19th century. (Saddle shown for display only and is not included.)
These composite horses were used in many of the best saddlerys and over the years have been highly collectable. The most famous was the noted horse of R. T. Frazier in Pueblo, Colorado. That display horse had quite a local reputation since it had washed out of the Frazier Saddlery during the 1921 flood and was found, in a tree, 14 miles east of Pueblo.
