French mid 18th century Martial pistol converted from Flintlock to percussion with brass mounts type used by Navy and imported to the U.S. during the Revolutionary War era. The 69 caliber pistol measures 16-1/4"overall with 9" barrel. No lock markings but French proofs at left side of breech. The metal shows some light to moderate pitting and erosion. There is a deep letter carved behind the side plate which may be an"M". The stock shows some splits in the fore end and small losses and would be rated as fair with some small restoration needed. The action is working, a metal Military type ramrod is included. Est.;$400-$800.
