French double barrel pre-war side-by-side shotgun in 16 gauge with release lever in trigger guard marked on the bottom of the frame, “Super” showing St. Etienne proofs and special steel marked barrels. The gun is numbered 65649 between the lugs on the barrel. The barrels measure 27 ½” and the gun is approximately 44” overall and of medium to lightweight. The gun is choked extra full right and left. The stock shows a provision for a retractable sling which is missing. The barrels show 75% to 85% blue that is toning and dulling slightly with some areas of light to moderate pitting and erosion. The frame is lightly engraved and shows traces of a silvery gray case hardening. The stocks are fair to good with one large groove and some small losses of wood just above the triggers on the left side. Otherwise the stocks would be very good. The original butt plate is constructed of horn and retained. The stock measures 14 ¼” to the end of the plate. The action is tight and the bores are fair to good with some slightly rough and dirty areas that may clean. Standard extractors and double triggers. A very good French pre-war double shotgun.
