French Naval style Blunderbuss pistol signed “Jacob Civet” St. Etienne on lock with engraved silver butt cap in parrot-eagle motif with silver wire inlay around wrist. The pistol measures nearly 14” overall with6-3/4” three stage cast brass cannon type barrel with radically flared Blunderbuss muzzle which measures 1-7/8” across its center to the outside dimensions. The bore is approx 1-5/8” at muzzle. The lock plateis brass and nicely engraved with maker’s name. The pistol remains in original good to very good condition with an unclean patina on the brass. The steel parts show a deep brown and the original Flintlock parts areretained. The stock is also very good plus with just normal aging and a small loss of wire inlay, circa 1780-1805 approx. Est.;$3,500-$7,000.
