French Model 1763 flintlock musket by Charleyville Armory showing period restock in figured or striped wood which may possibly be American. The barrel measures 44” and the musket is 59 ¼” overall in .70 caliber. The metal surfaces show abrown patina finish with scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The lock is in its original flintlock configuration with the top jaw and screw possibly period replacements. The sling swivels have been removed and the stock shows some breaks, some losses and has been broken and repaired at the wrist. The shape and stocking show American traits. There are carved initials right over the trigger on the left side which reads “w Y D” which are over marking the French V.inspection. Very possibly a revolutionary war used musket which would be worth testing the wood. A French style ramrod is included. Est.: $1750-$3500
