French Mitraleuse twenty (20) shot double action military revolver approximately 11.5mm made to mount in bow of small boat into a bracket made for this gun and action is operated by a lanyard which is strung through a loop in the trigger. Purportedly these oddities were used by Customs agents who patrolled the rivers of France looking for smugglers (a chapter from Inspector Clusou). The revolver measures 13 ½” overall with 8 ¼” barrel and the frame measures over 6 ¾” from top to bottom, cylinder nearly 5” wide. The front of frame is numbered with a large 1. The metal surfaces show a dark patina and scattered light to heavy pitting. The actionis working and all small parts are retained. Page 161 “Vari-Type Firearms” by F.
