In the Oriental manner, bamboo corners, sides and feet, hand painted but not artist signed, black bamboo corners with gold trim, hand painted seated lady with one teaching a child to read, a scroll on a table cover and the other either with a doll or pet in a hinged top table or cabinet. There are matching under plates in the bamboo style trimmed in black and gold to match the square pots. The pots measure some 5 1/2" wide, tall and deep plus the 6 1/2" wide square under plates that measure about 7/8" tall. The pots are marked Depose and likely to date to 1825-1850. Two feet on one of the pots has some chips, otherwise, they appear to be in good condition. With the age and decoration, it would not be possible for there not to be a nick here or there, but overall, they appear to be in good condition. The paintings are well done, the other 3 sides are navy blue and a gold medallion painted. These are fairly thick very white porcelain bodies with a couple of either firing cracks in the inside body of the planters or old mold cracks. These could even be Old Paris. Remember, you are bidding on a pair.
