Forrest Gump Young Forrest Screen Worn Leg Braces
This is something extraordinary. “Forrest Gump” (1994) made Oscar® history when it won the “full plate”: Best Picture, Director, Actor and Writer (along with several other awards). Perhaps not since Frank Capra’s “It Happened One Night” (1935), did a movie have that achievement. The story of a young innocent polio victim, who ends up through his life to be in the right place at the right time at various famous moments in history, and through his own purity changes the lives of many, touched the hearts of the world. Not only is it one of the most honored movies, but made over two quarters of a billion dollars at the box office. The first part of this American Classic has Forrest (Tom Hanks), telling the story of his childhood to a Nurse (Rebecca Williams), on a park bench. The story sets off the tone of the miracles that permeate this tale. Stricken with polio as a child, the Young Forrest (Michael Conner Humphreys) must endure ridicule for his leg braces. However, through the strength of both his mother (Sally Field), and a little girl who is to become a lifelong love of his life (played as a young girl by Hanna Hall) Forrest finds support and inspiration. In fact in one scene a “guest” of his mother’s boarding house where he lives becomes inspired as, while playing his guitar, he watched the Young Forrest dancing in his braces. This gives this guest an idea for his own special "dance" while singing. The guest of course, becoming Elvis! In a key scene, walking with the Young Jenny, the Young Forrest encounters a group of bad kids on bikes who taunt him, throw rocks at him, and then start to chase him. The young Jenny shouts what has become a classic line in movie history: “Run, Forrest, run!” He does just that, and as he races down the dirt road, his braces miraculously shatter, literally dissolving off his legs. And it this discovery of his amazing ability to run faster than anyone that changes his own life forever. These are the actual screen worn braces that the Young Forrest wore. They are displayed in a museum quality Plexiglas case, and include production used shoes, and two framed sections showing both the “Forrest Gump” poster and two screen shots from the movie. The display is completed with raised red letters with the text: RUN FORREST RUN. This is a one-of-a-kind collectable and a true classic treasure of American Cinema. (Braces are 25” high. Plexiglas displace case is approx 19.5x18x11.5”). Oversized item. Additional postage required.
