Forged iron treasure chest, circa 1550 – 1750, showing intricate locking mechanism that is complete. Light hand engraving on cover plate for lock mechanism, red painted interior, original carrying handles that arenicely turned and forged also, with operating key and original keyhole cover. Box measures 10-1/2”h by 22-1/2”l, by 10”d, and is of an unusual and desirable smaller size. Weight is approx 15lbs. The exterior of the chestshows some pitting and rust and a great patina. Yo ho!
