Flintlock powder tester converted to percussion, originally circa early 19th century and English style. The piece measures approx. 6” across with simple bag shape wood grip in pistol style. The frame and wheelare nicely engraved and spring is mounted on bottom of frame. The original flintlock hammer has been converted to percussion by adding a metal block to the jaws of the original flint hammer and removing thefrizzen and replacing it with nipple. Conversion is simple and ingenious and well-done by a gunsmith. The brass shows a good patina and is fairly sharp; the steel parts show a dark patina and minor pitting. The only flintlock powder tester converted to percussion we have ever cataloged or seen in any reference work. Est.: $400-$800.
