Flintlock Jeager rifle signed T.W. Pistor a SchmalKalden. Circa about 1760-1790. The rifle measures 44 ½” overall with 30 ½” light to medium weight barrel of approximately .36 caliber. The rifle remains in very goodcondition showing a light gray to brown patina finish with some light erosion and pinprick pitting starting along the edges of the barrel and the lock shows some just beginning darkening and light erosion. Thelock is nicely engraved and there is some chiseling on the back edge of the lock and hammer with gold gilt decoration. The lock is in its original flintlock state with correct hammer, small parts and screws. The barrelis inlaid in silver with makers name and decorative accents at the breech and around the signature (The lock is also signed). The stock is nicely raised carved at the wrist, tang and around cheek piece with nicelyworked area carved like metal butt plate but is wood. There is a small chip from the front of patch box cover. The small wire hair trigger extension for firing has broken but triggers still set and work (Easy to repair).
