The lot features a unique small child's beaded dress with number three wampum cowrie shells from the Flathead Naitve American Indians of Montana. The vintage 20th Century piece shows a museum collection identification tag that states the dress as being a Flathead piece from Mrs. Weise 1963 showing three identification numbers. The dress could be earlier than 1963 from circa early 1900 and collected by Mrs. Weiss in 1963. The dress shows a red trade clothe stroud construction with green ribbon accents and purple trade clothe sleeves. The beadwork shows a unique blend of glass trade seed beads, Czechoslovakian semi-transparent cut tube beads (sometimes referred to as bugle beads), and small faceted tube beads. The dress shows a fancy beaded fringe on the front with each having a wonderful adornment of number three wampum cowrie shells. The piece displays very well and shows the correct manufacture to be of an early age. Provenance: From a large Old West and American Indian collection in Great Falls, Montana. The dress measures 29 1/4" from sleeve to sleeve, and 17" from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the waist.
