This is a nice example of a four digit serialized Colt Government Model pistol that was manufactured in 1912, the first year of production. The pistol has been totally restored and has the high polish commercial blue finish. The pistol has the early pattern short hammer, rounded rear sight, safety lock, and is complete with a two tone magazine with a lanyard ring on the base. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt 1897, 1902, 1905 and 1911 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the Hartford address in a second two-line block. The circled Rampant Colt trademark is stamped on the left side of the slide behind the serrations. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45" directly below the ejection port. The left upper front of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "VP" triangle proofmark and the assembler's mark "K" on the lower rear. The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number and the right side "GOVERNMENT MODEL". The barrel is blue with a bright chamber. Smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety and hammer spur, lanyard ring on the heel of the frame and fitted with checkered walnut grips with a diamond around the screws.
