Manufactured from 1858 to 1859, with an estimated production of about 5,000. The left side of the frame is marked "MANUFACTURED BY/MASS. ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS" and the right side "MAYNARD ARMS CO./WASHINGTON". Brass blade front and fixed iron rear sights, tang sight, Maynard tape primer (number 4203 stamped internally), and sling ring mounted with a staple on the lower tang and mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with the thick rounded iron buttplate and iron patch box marked with the three line Maynard patent dates on the door. If you are to acquire one model of maynard, this model is the one that would have made the Civil War; on both sides!

Condition: Good. The lightly pitted metal surfaces have a smooth mottled brown patina overall. The stock is good with a crude period "R" carved into the right side and scattered minor dents and scratches overall. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
