Finely Engraved German Single Shot Rifle
Blade and adjustable notch sights, with a pair of claw mount bases installed at the rear, cutting through the makers address. Excellent relief cut scroll engraving on the frame, hammer, trigger guard, side lock plate, tangs and cartridge compartment lid, with scenes of deer in the woods on either side of the frame, a deer head on the trigger guard, and a pair of hunting dogs on the lock. Equipped with a low profile flip-up peep sight on the upper tang and double set triggers. Checkered knob grip stock with engraved forearm hardware, sling swivels, cartridge compartment on the underside of the butt and a serrated horn buttplate. Marked "7.8mm/ 72" under "BUG" commercial proofs on barrel under forearm.

Condition: Very fine, with 80% of the faded original blue finish, showing some edge wear, patches of gray patina, and mild spotting and handling marks. Traces of original case color are visible on the lower tang, which has turned a smooth gray overall. Stock is very fine, with scattered scratches, dents and fine grain. Mechanically excellent.
