Fine to excellent condition Volcanic Navy size pistol in .41 Volcanic caliber with 6” barrel, serial number 852 from Dr. Stephen Rutter collection who co-authored the book entitled “Volcanic Firearms, Predecessor to the WinchesterRifle” The pistol shows three lined address, “Volcanic Repeating Arms Co., New Haven Connecticut, patent Feb. 14th 1854. The barrel retains 90% to 95% original blue finish drifting slightly at the edges with a few minor scratchesand just beginning normal aging. The barrel address is crisp and fully legible. The frame shows strong traces of original silver plate (at least 10%) with the balance gone to a pleasing and deep patina. The hammer shows 75% to 85% original case hardening and is still very colorful. The lever shows traces of original finish going to natural gray. The varnish wood stocks show 90% plus original varnish with some slight loss at the edges and a few minor handling and storage marks. The trigger and internal parts show bright original finishes. The end of the muzzle is toned and shows its original bright polish. The front sight and rear sight are in fine condition and the rear sight retains most its original blue. The
