Fine quality parlor pistol made for indoor shooting with Cork projectile propelled by paper cap similar to Greenie Stick’em cap. This fine quality and ornate pistol is multicolor gold and silver inlaid on the barrel with presentation and date in Latin along with slogan in English “Wilson Forever” and “The Date 1917” when Woodrow Wilson was the president of the United States. A printed pamphlet from the dinner where by tradition this pistol was presented by Wilson to a close friend in the financial field in 1919 is included. The pistol measures 12 ¼” overall with 8 ¼” blued steel barrel in octagon shape which shows the makers name Beatus (Belgium) and other writings in Latin inlaid in gold and silver along with a raised relief silver inlay of a monument and raised relief inlays in floral patterns also in silver and gold. The stock is finally checkered and basket weaved carved at the butt with nickeled breech and mountings. The condition is fine to excellent. The pistol is cased in a French style case lined in red velvet with compartment containing cork projectiles and paper caps which were used with this parlor gun. The exterior of the case is veneered hardwood and shows a fancy engraved plaque with intertwined initials W.W. for Woodrow Wilson. A rare opportunity to obtain a president’s personal property presented during America’s entry into when World War I (1917). Est.: $7,000-$14,000.
