Fine quality and large clipped point Bowie knife marked R. B. Rhoda and Co., London and Calcutta with original pearl grip scales and German silver mounts with silver pommel cap. The knife measures 17” overall with 12” clipped point blade showing approximately 5” radical clip. The blade is in good to very good condition showing its full original dimensions with just some minor aging and light erosion with minor pinprick pitting but generally very good overall. The grip scales are original to the period and show a beautiful iridescent color and just slight natural aging. The cross guard is in good condition with a couple of minor dents. The pommel cap is made of silver and also in good condition with just some minor opening at the edges and slight wear. A classic and well-made knife of the 1840s to gold rush era.
