Fine pair of Gustave Young extra fancy engraved Colt Model 1849 pockets with 4” barrels, blue and case hardened finish, original ivory grips in deluxe original rosewood case, serial #’s 102803 and 102805. The pair show extra fine and fancy engraving in the hand of the master himself with finely cut scrolls, florals, parrot head, cobwebs and Colt’s patent hand cut in block letters on the center of each frame withSamuel Colt in script on each barrel. The pistols remain in near fine condition with 75-85% bright original blue on barrels, just natural beginning age and toning. Pistol number 102805 shows 50-70% original blue oncylinder with most of its original cylinder scene and an index line between stops. The frame, hammer and loading lever show 75-85% early case hardening which is toning nicely. The straps show 80-90% original silver andthe grips are fine to near excellent with yellowish patina. All matching serial numbers and crisp overall. Pistol number 102803 shows about 20-40% original blue on cylinder with most of its original cylinder
