Fine original Volcanic pistol with 4” barrel marked New Haven, Conn. patent February 14, 1854 on barrel, serial number 1790. This Volcanic remains in fine original condition showing 40% to 60% original bright blue on barrel that has flaked and toned slightly with some mirror blight blue still remaining showing Indian ink deep blue color. The edges are razor-sharp and the barrel and tube are completely uncleaned. The frame shows 75% plus original silver and is factory engraved in the typical Volcanic style. The area where the silver has drifted shows a natural brass patina. The hammer and lever show bright original case hardening and also bright blue on lever. The varnished wood grips show 90% to 95% original varnish with just some minor scratches, marks with a teeny bit of wear at the edges. The original front and rear sight show bright original blue and the trigger also shows bright color. The lifter also shows bright original blue finish. The bore is excellent and shows no use. A very strong volcanic that would rate as an 8 ½ plus on a 1 to 10 scale and would be very difficult and costly to improve upon. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $14,000 -$28,000.
