Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 94 XTR Big Bore with a 20" barrel chambered in .375 Winchester. The .375 Winchester is a modernized version of the .38-55 Winchester, a black powder cartridge dating back to 1884. It was introduced in 1978 along with the Winchester Model 94 "Big Bore" lever action rifle. Though very similar in appearance to the parent .38-55, the .375 has a shorter case length and operates at much higher pressures. This rifle was manufactured some time between 1983-1987 and is in overall Fine-excellent condition, having only light aesthetic wear. Carbines like this one are quick handling and capable of fast shot strings as compared to a bolt action with a long barrel. In addition, carbines are light, easy to carry and don’t have a tendency to snag on every bush you pass. This will make someone a great deer rifle for many decades to come!
